Nothing can compare with the satisfaction that comes from buying handmade diaper bags for your infant. An act of love, what sets a custom diaper bag apart from big name manufactured companies is numbers. A handmade individual bag is fashionably unique without being duplicated again and again. In other words, every mother on the block does not have the same bag as you do. Dedicated independent artistic creators are responsible for lovingly crafting your personal handmade bag. These creators specialize in the bags yet allow you to choose your own fabric or have your child’s initials or name embroidered on it.
Artists who create these bags use a wide variety of materials as the creative bug hits them-home décor, duck cloth, cotton decorative accents, and indoor/outdoor. Most handmade baby bags are lined without plastic as it rips when the bags are overloaded-diapers, bottles, baby food, lotion, pacifiers and extra clothing. The more the compartments, the better the bag can be organized to get to items in a hurry. This makes the handmade bags for babies indispensable, as extra sections or compartments can be ordered if needed when it is being made.
Lots of colors are available for handmade diaper bags in today’s fabrics and designs. Custom designed bags offer more in style and design than what the mass-produced bags have to offer you. Personal touches and your own creativity can always be added to the handmade product.
Mixed patterns and designs seem to be the popular style of the day as compared to the solid look, other than black designs with a few small add-ons. But with custom designed bags, you can look at designs that are available and choose from them, adding and subtracting here and there until you have your own bag with your own favorite colors and design. And if you want a solid colored bag when they typically are not in style, you can have one made for you instead of struggling to find one.
Custom-designed bags for babies can easily be found by shopping online for bag designers who specialize in handmade bag work. You can get a good idea of the quality of their work by looking at their product photographs, description, and product reviews. You can also contact the designer personally through their email or phone number regarding the product you are interested in-product information, descriptions or references.
Shopping online for these bags is more convenient than shopping locally. Your choices will be much less limited while allowing you to have a more personalized baby bag. Your baby’s bag needs to represent you as the mother and your lifestyle. If you camp out a lot, the little tote satchel will not work as well as the sturdy cameo diaper backpack. But on the other hand, if you attend museums and art galleries, a classier styled tote bag would be more appropriate than the sturdy backpack.
The best thing about the handmade ones are their flexible size or shape which can be altered for you, fitting any style you want. The bag for diapers and baby supplies will typically have a standard size with a strap to sling over your shoulder. But there are newer designs that are fast becoming popular-the hobo bags, mini bags, messenger bags, totes, and backpacks.
More and more parents are investing in custom bags as they can be made to fit the lifestyle and needs of the parents and child. Plus… this is a bag that is budget-friendly, allowing you to order what you can afford and need at the same time.
Diaper Bag Pattern

What is a Petunia Pickle Bottom? Word on the web is that they are one of the best baby diaper bags around. I have carried out a little research and I am inclined to agree. Not only do they have great diaper bag features but they are gorgeous too with exquisite fabric and pattern choices so they hardly look like a bulky traditional over-sized diaper bag at all. Each new design is treated to a beautiful name which just helps you imagine you really are having an “Evening in Innsbruck” or an “Afternoon in Auckland”. If you don’t fancy an “Afternoon in Auckland” why not try “Aberdeen” or a “Morning in Monaco”.
The names can only hint at the design and pattern and merely tease you as to the choice of fabric the designers have chosen this time. Brocades, chenilles, embroidery, velvet and hand-woven tweeds are just a few of the exquisite designs you will find used for these diaper bags. Bold colours, patterns and daring colour combinations all make this line of diaper bags unique.
Ok, so they are gorgeous but do they do the job they are designed for?
YES!
The Boxy backpack is just one of the Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag designs and it has all of the essential features of a diaper bag as outlined below:
1. Hands-free backpack or long messenger strap
2. Built-in changing station with detachable changing pad
3. 2 large diaper/wipes pockets
4. 4 bottle pockets
5. 2 organizational pockets
6. Small pacifier pocket
7. Detachable dirty diaper pouch
8. “No more digging” key clip
9. water-resistant lining
10. accessories available e.g. stroller blankets, valet stroller clips
The valet stroller clips are almost an essential add-on purchase guaranteeing you ease of transition with this bag from back or shoulder to stroller in as little time as it takes to hook the rings on to the two clips. This bag is versatile, keeping your hands free as a backpack (always handy when bending down to pick up little ones) or comfortable as a shoulder bag (not too bulky under your arm either). A key feature is the detachable change mat which zips neatly into the side of the bag (easy to leave attached when using public change facilities and have everything in your bag handy by babies head). Lots of different sized pockets for bottles, wipes, diapers, cream, pacifiers and all the other essentials you need when out and about with kids. Handy too when you have older siblings for storing snacks, different sized diapers and changes of clothes. Many reviews comment that this bag is perfect for carrying all the bits’n'pieces needed for multiple children at different ages and stages. There is even a detachable pouch for the inevitable dirty diaper! Add to these features a water-resistant lining to cope with spills and little accidents and a key clip so you don’t lose those in the bottom of the bag again and you have a winner of a diaper bag.
So, whether you are heading into town, off for a play date or just a stroll in the local park a diaper bag from Petunia Pickle Bottom should be your ultimate companion.

Homemade Diaper Bags

Childbirth is an occasion for joyous celebration in every family. It is also a time for planning and organizing for the baby’s well being. Apart from constant attention, a baby requires a lot of special things such as pacifiers, milk bottles and diapers. It does become cumbersome to carry all these things in an organized manner with baby in tow. A diaper bags is a very useful accessory in these situations.
Diaper bags are designed to carry everything that mommy and baby need while traveling. There are various compartments designed to hold specific baby items making items easy to find when they are needed.
As the popularity of diaper bags increases, so does the need to have them customized. Today, it is possible to order a diaper bag that is specifically designed to suit a parent’s needs. For instance, customization of diaper bags make it possible for parents to get a diaper bag in the same print as the baby nursery or to match baby’s clothes.
A diaper bag can vary in shape and size. It usually comes in a standard design that can be tucked over the shoulder. Messenger diaper bags, tote-style diaper bags and backpack diaper bags are some of the other popular custom designs.
Custom-made diaper bags can cost as little as $20, or as much as hundreds of dollars. It depends on who makes it, and where you purchase it. Parents invest in these bags, because they provide the flexibility to suit the specific needs of the parents. Customized diaper bags tend to be more fashionable and user-friendly than a diaper bag of general design. They are also more comfortable to carry around.
The major points to be considered when ordering a custom made diaper bag are what purposes will you be using it for (traveling or walks in the park), will both parents be using the same bag (pattern and color is important) and how much do you wish to spend (custom designer bags can cost hundreds)?

Homemade Diaper Bags

Bags are necessities more than wants. Whether it is a handmade tote bag, handmade diaper bag or handmade wallet, we all need bags for our day to day activities. Making your own handmade tote bag is easy especially if you are crafty, creative and resourceful. A little cutting here and a little sewing there, you will have your handmade wallet in no time. To make your handmade tote, follow the simple instructions below.
First, gather all your materials needed. For this project, we will make a handmade wallet that is 6″ in width, 7″ in length and 9″ in height. Hence, we will use a fabric that is 14″ in width and 26″ in length for the handmade wallet. For the strap of the handmade purse, you will need an 80-inch cotton webbing strap. For the pocket, you will need a 14″ x 9″ fabric, although this is optional. You will also need thread that matches the color of the fabric, needle, scissors and sewing machine.
Step 1: Position the wide fabric right side up and the fabric for the pocket right side up. Position the raw edge of the fabric for the pocket 2.5″ under and parallel to the top margin of the fabric for the bag. Tack the raw edges of the pocket fabric with different thread to serve as the guide as you place the handmade wallet’s strap.
Step 2: place a pin halfway the webbing strap as well as on the center of bag fabric. Line up the pin on the strap to the pin on the bag fabric. Lay down the strap centered on the strap placement mark on the bag’s right side, making an uninterrupted circle, turning below the overlapping end. Make use of a piece of tape to hold the straps in place. Likewise, tape the strap to the bag except for the last 3″ at the shorter edges of the bag.
Step 3: Attach the part of the strap which ends under the overlapping edges. Sew about the shorter edge of the bag piece to the edge of the strap, crossing over the other end back towards the edge of the bag. When attaching the overlapping straps, sew by the opposite short edge of the bag all the way down, and crossing the part where the edges meet and back again to the edge of the bag. Discontinue all stitching 2.5″ below the top edge.
Step 4: Fold the handmade tote in ½ lengthwise, wrong sides together. Pin the layers together.
Step 5: Fold the layers back from the pins with the right sides together ending with a pleat. Sew the layer altogether on all sides with ½ seam.
Step 6: Fold the top edge to the wrong side with an inch hem and sew all around. Be sure to leave a gap in the opening of the pocket. Stitch the strap to the handmade wallet and you are done.

Diaper Bag Pattern

To a lot of mothers everywhere, diaper bags are a must have item, especially for new moms out there. If you do not leave home without your wallet, keys, or purse, a mother who has a baby does not leave home without a diaper bag. Every mother knows that a baby has needs; needs such as diapers, baby bottles, toys, extra clothing, and much more. These items have to be stored in an ideal carrying case. But just because it is a diaper bag does not mean that it has to look mediocre. After all, mom also has her own needs. You can design your own diaper bag to make it more functional and fashionable. Your diaper bag will look like one of those designer diaper bags in no time. All you have to do is follow these tips.
The first thing you should do is search the Internet for a good well designed pattern and download it. This will serve as your starting base so you will not have to start from scratch. If you are comfortable with the pattern you have just downloaded, you can start printing it out.
Consider the structural design of your bag pattern and see if it is capable of accommodating your particular necessities. Designing one is not just about making it look like designer diaper bags. It is about convenience and practicality as well. Some mothers want their bags to have several pouches as well as zippered pockets, while others prefer large compartments or just a single big interior section. Whatever you decide on, just make sure that it is really what you want and that it will meet your specifications. If you wish to, exterior pouches or pockets can be made in various shapes and sizes. If you prefer shapes such as hearts, circles, or even pouches shaped like jeans back pockets, it is entirely possible. Just find the shape that you want to use and trace it on to a sewing pattern material.
When creating your very own bag, you should also consider the type of closures you will be using. You can choose between snaps or Velcro, buttons, and zippers. Zippers are the most difficult to sew but are, however, the most secure. Although, you cannot use zippers on all of the closures of your bag, otherwise it would be difficult to open and close while carrying your baby. You need easy access to the essentials. So instead of using zippers on all of the closures, you can perhaps use the zipper for one of the interior pockets for your keys and such, and another zipper for the main closure to prevent things from falling all over the place. Velcro or snap locks on all the other closures should suffice.
You must also consider the type of fabric you want to use, if you want it to look like one of those designer diaper bags. The upholstery and decor is essential and the type of fabric you use will be crucial in this phase of the project.
